Park your RV on Georgian Bay (7 Days)

Follow the Georgian Bay Coastal Route stopping to camp beside the Bay. This Georgian Bay Coastal Route RV Tour is 7 days and will have you watching the sun set over the water.

Day 1

Arrive on Southern Georgian Bay today. You have 2 choices of campgrounds for your first night’s stay on Georgian Bay; choose one, or choose both and stay an extra night! Awenda Provincial Park is located north of Penetanguishene and sits high atop the Nipissing Bluff overlooking Georgian Bay. At the base of the bluff you’ll find beautiful Georgian Bay beaches to explore. The campgrounds feature hiking and biking trails set among maple and oak. You will find Picnic Island Resort in Honey Harbour, in the centre of the 30,000 Islands region and directly on Georgian Bay. This campground offers dockage for your boat and a large sandy beach for the kids.

Day 2

Travel to the Parry Sound area today. Killbear Provincial Park (Nobel, Ontario) today, and spend the day exploring this rugged Georgian Bay Wilderness. Lounge on some of the 3 kilometres of sandy beaches. Hike the trails for a view of windswept pines over Georgian Bay or mountain bike this 30,000 island area park. If you’re lucky, you may even score a campsite right on a Georgian Bay beach!

Day 3

You’re off to Manitoulin Island today, and your next campground on the water. Batman’s Cottages, Tent & Trailer Park offers family camping with a sandy beach overlooking Sheguiandah Bay. Set up camp, and relax! (Sudbury is an excellent city for shopping or to restock provisions as you make your way around the Bay.)

Day 4

Enjoy exploring the world’s largest freshwater island today. There’s a lot to see and do within a short distance of your campground. Bridal Veil Falls in Gore Bay is a must see stop along the way. If you’re up for a hike, check out the Cup & Saucer Trail for wonderful views of the North Channel. Or, if a beach day is more your style, head for Providence Bay and the island’s most popular beach. (Please remember to make your reservation for tomorrow’s crossing on the Chi-Cheemaun today.)

Day 5

Set sail on the Chi-Cheemaun today. This passenger and car ferry will get you from South Baymouth to Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula in just over two hours. Take the time to explore in Tobermory once you arrive. This picturesque village on the Bay has lots to offer. Heading down the peninsula, you’ll settle in at either the Cape Croker Indian Park tonight, or at the Blue Water Park. Both campgrounds offer views of tributary bays of Georgian Bay. Cape Croker is a more remote park, situated on the Cape Croker reservation, while Blue Water Park is located in the heart of Wiarton.

Day 6

After a long day of travel yesterday, today is the day to explore your surroundings or simply relax and enjoy some down time. Whether you’re in Cape Croker or Wiarton today, you’ll be close to the Bruce Trail. Grab a map and go for a hike! Just east of Wiarton, you’ll find Bruce’s Caves, a great place for a hike to view the massive caves carved by years of post glacial wave action.

Day 7

You’re off to your last campground today, and back to the southern shores of Georgian Bay. Once again you have your choice of Bay location. Meaford’s Memorial Park is a gem. With more than 2,000 feet of sandy beach, you may be lucky and find yourself perched for a front row seat as you enjoy the campfire with a Georgian Bay sunset in the background. Craigleith Provincial Park, east of Thornbury is a great place to enjoy fishing from the fractured shale coast. It’s also a great place to catch the last rays of the sun as it dips behind the waters of Georgian Bay.
